When we were looking for a church to call home, we had spent considerable time looking at a number of churches. Frankly, we had mixed experiences at a number of churches. We had understood that there does not exist a "perfect" church anywhere on this planet, yet still, we had not found a place to call home...yet.
We both had very wonderful as well as challenging experiences in previous churches. Now, at a place in our lives, and a time...we knew it was time to seek out a church family. Moreover, we suspect that God may have in some small way been gently, yet persistently nudging us along. To make our story a bit shorter, after meeting a few of those at the Methodist church, we just kinda knew that this was the place for us.
We have been in the church now since 1999 and have grown many close friends and have grown ourselves. Our children have had nothing but wonderful experiences, and as parents we have seen other caring adults have such a positive and strong influence on them, that, well, it gives us condsierable room for pause and thanks.
As a denomination, the Methodist church
takes a very active role in issues of social justice, human rights and
mission outreaches throughout the world. Having both spent time in
developing countries, it is only fit that the church be an active
leader in this area.
